What the numbers mean — the way your coach actually uses them.

Most riders think FTP is what they can do right now — it isn't. It's measured once, at the start of your program, and it's the number we're training you to genuinely hold for an hour by the time you peak.

An FTP test hands almost everyone a number they can't actually hold for an hour yet — that's not a flaw, that's the design. We set it when your program starts, cut every zone from it, and build toward it through base and build, so that when you peak, that hour is yours.

The test writes the goal; the season gets you there.

One thing that matters: the number has to be honest. It comes from your own best efforts, and setting it higher than they support doesn't make you stronger — it just mis-cuts every zone and gets you coached for a rider you aren't yet.
